How to be Together

As TENT‘s doors are closed while they prepare for a new home in Coolhaven, Reading Room Rotterdam is taking TENT on the road with local collective Soupspoon! Running until the end of the 2024, this collaboration Soupspoon will focus their work around diaspora experiences and collective making, unfolding this research in three moments, involving peer exchange and public engagement through live events. Our first event, “How to be Together”, was held Saturday, June 15th at KIOSK. "How to be Together" was inspired by the various hurdles expeirence by members of the collective, such as navigating visa structures as non-europeans living in the Netherlands, and giving notice to the role that friendship plays in collective survival. The session included a launch of their first zine and many games to play. Zines are still available by donation with all proceeds going to help a family in Gaza. Many thanks to those who joined us, played a game with us, turned work into silent gazes, gestures of manners, conversations within and beyond us, escaping from reality for the span of a game round, dice dropping with screams, sofa and TV set made with mahjong cubes, laughter for opponents and tears for friends.
